"Smokey Mountains" in the Philippines

Smoky Mountain is a nickname for the city dump where 250-300 families live. There are many poor and depressing places, but this is almost overwhelming. It’s one of the saddest and hardest place on earth…where families, kids, and infants, all live and eat in the garbage. If the maggots and stench aren’t enough, half the place is smoldering on fire. The women and children have burns and scars from picking through the trash. Smoke from the burning garbage chokes you. There are things here that are indescribable. None of God’s creation should live like this!

The Philippine team consists of Mike & Jeanette Bailey, Tag & Theresa Saunders, Eric & Casey Miller, Justin & Michelle Erb and Kevin & Amber Cracknell. They have been taking bags of food, clothing and medicine to the families that live in the dump. They have recently installed two water tanks which hold enough water to supply 100 people for one day.

The needs are great! They have set up a special fund account to help defray the costs. If you would like to make a contribution specifically to this fund, just mark the memo line on your check "Bibles/Food Account - Philippines", or go to our secure on line donation page.
